Stop letting the cold kill your patio profits
When the temperature drops, most outdoor dining areas just… die. You’ve probably tried those standard space heaters, but they’re a joke. They try to heat the air, and the second a breeze kicks up, all that expensive warmth just drifts away. That’s why we use ceiling-mounted infrared heaters. Instead of fighting the wind, they just ignore the air entirely. They send out waves that heat up the things they hit—your guests, their chairs, and the tables. It feels more like standing in the sun on a crisp day. The trick is in the placement. We mount these on the ceiling to create a sort of “heat umbrella.” You’re basically carving out a cozy little pocket of warmth right over the tables. The rest of the patio can be freezing, but your guests stay perfectly comfortable. This is where the money comes in. Winter usually means a lot of empty chairs and wasted square footage. When you get the heat right, two things happen. First, people actually want to sit outside again. Second—and this is the big one—they linger. Think about it: when a customer is shivering, they eat fast and leave. But when they’re warm and cozy? They stay for another round of drinks. They order the dessert menu. They relax. A few things to watch out for. You can’t just slap these on the ceiling and call it a day. Height is everything. If they’re too high, the heat disappears before it reaches the guest. Too low, and you’re basically baking the person sitting right under the unit. We usually suggest a staggered layout so you don’t end up with those annoying “cold spots” between heaters. One last thing: these things pull a lot of power. Before you buy a dozen units, check your breaker panel. You don’t want to find out your wiring is too thin right in the middle of a Friday night dinner rush when the power suddenly cuts out. It’s worth running a few dedicated lines now to avoid a total meltdown later.
